What is the difference between rebated and non-rebated doors?

The rebated door has a distinctive indentation, where a part of the wing hides in the door frame and part of the door is on the door frame. On the other hand, non-rebated doors have no indentation and with closed doors they form a uniform surface with the frame, without any irregularities.
